"to me, photography is about capturing a breath taking moment, in a way that you can relive it over and over again" 🖤

In pool homebirth with my 2nd child! Huge thanks to Cynthia Starosta Photography!

hello!

My name is Helen! I am a God fearing mama of three perfect, little monsters. I am very passionate and sometimes love a little too easily. I wear my heart on my sleeve and put my all into the things that I do. I can be a bit of a perfectionist and have a hunger to always keep learning.

With my first child, I had a bit of rough hospital birth. Through that, I managed to get about 3-4 terrible quality cell phone pictures. One when I got there all bright eyed and unsure of what to expect, another... incredibly unflattering picture as a new family and one of my sweet baby boy after he was fastened into his seat to start our new lives. It wasn't until I was pregnant with my second, that I realized how important my birth story really was to me. I wanted to make sure that time around, I did all the things that made me feel empowered. I hired an amazing midwife team, planned everything down to my handwritten affirmations and made sure that I secured a birth photographer. I fell head over heals in love with all things birth. She told my story. Not just my child's but also all of the power, love and intensity it took to bring her into the world. That was huge because what a breath taking story it really was! I began to embrace and understand the beauty of that special moment. That moment when all of the preparation and butterflies come to life and mamas get to show off their strength. I was obsessed, as well as became a huge advocate for trusting and embracing your child bearing body. To me, it's the greatest gift!

My passion for photography, honestly, has been for as long as I can remember. It started with taking a disposable camera everywhere that I went. I loved to play the original Pokemon snap lol and has turned into a love of capturing families and their stories. After trying different genres, I just kept gravitating back toward story telling and birth. Witnessing the labor dance of families who become friends has been literally nothing less than a dream!!
