As a birth photographer I have the honor to be present in countless, unique birth spaces and document as your birth plan unfolds. I have the opportunity to get to know and be surrounded by amazing who are all there to celebrate this new, little life! How stinking cool is that? Sooo what is MY favorite part? 

Is it the unwavering support and words of empowerment that cheer a mama on as she roars and navigates her intense contractions? 

Is it the intentional little details that go into preparing for this life changing addition?

Is it the quiet of the room being broken by that precious new cry followed by sighs of relief and laughter?

As special as all of those things are, MY favorite moment is something much more monumental. 

The moment I live for is what I like to call the “I did it” moment. It’s a split second that every mama has. A moment where she throws her exhausted head back in relief. It’s shock. It’s tears. It’s laughter. It’s disbelief. It’s the realization that she just did that! She bravely rode the waves of contractions. She faced the fear and anxiety of climbing onto an operating table. She pushed through all of the unknowns.

So…

Dear Mamas,

You are a warrior. You are strong and fearless. You created all of those little toes and squeaky little noises! You faced every ache, kick, sleepless night and sometimes what can be scary unknowns. You DID THAT! So while yes, I love everything that goes into bringing a new life Earth-side, my favorite thing is celebrating YOU and your LEGACY! Your strength and determination are unmatched. You are a Goddess.
